Christmas Tree = Tradition?

Not in the 19th century.  Christmas trees were popularized during the 1600s in Germany.  Over the years, the practice was spread across Europe but it wasn't until the 1800s that the first Christmas tree appeared in the US.  And most people didn't even like it.  Cleveland, Ohio 1851, a reverend who had recently emigrated from Germany put up a Christmas tree in his local church.  He was roundly condemned since nobody before had ever put up a Christmas tree in an American church.  For the rest of the 19th century, Christmas tree remains controversial.  New York Times editorialized against the Christmas tree in the 1880s.  When Teddy Roosevelt became president he denounced the practice of cutting down trees for Christmas, declaring the practice a waste of timber.

Atheists And Religious People.

Some family business in the past month or so kept me from updating this blog.  However, I did encountered something interesting during the time that I could share.  I knew for a few years that the atheists and the religious people (the hardcore ones) are hard to deal with based on the following reasons:

Evidences Of Consciousness Existing Outside Of Body (Video)

Last post, the book 'Quantum Enigma' explains how physics encounters consciousness.  Now this documentary has people talking about being conscious OUT OF THEIR BODIES.  This extraordinary documentary made by BBC explores cases of NDE (Near-Death Experience) and does it well.  There are a bunch of PhDs trying to figure the phenomenon out on both sides.  Just go watch it after the jump.  You know you want to.

Book Review - Quantum Enigma: Physics Encounters Consciousness

In the book: Quantum Enigma, physicists Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner explain the enigma of the most successful theory in science: the quantum theory.  It’s the same enigma that drove Albert Einstein to search for an answer in his later years.  Unfortunately, Einstein wasn’t able to do so; in his dying years, he urged others to not give up finding the truth behind the theory.  Let’s see if this book could answer Einstein’s call.

Quantum Mechanics Blew Up Hiroshima And Nagasaki Of Japan

Our modern technology won't be possible if not for the biggest breakthrough in science of the last century, the discovery of quantum mechanics.

That's right; your PCs, cellphones, TVs, DVDs, iPods, damn nuclear weapons, and almost any electronic you can think of are possible because of quantum mechanics. Some of its contributions after the jump:

Lastest Pursuit: Zero-Point Energy

Just ordered three books about zero-point energy; a possible energy source in the future. I picked the books based on their descriptions and reviews. They all seem to be mind-blowing to read. But I don't like the fact that I have like dozen of books on other topics unread.

The three books' links on Amazon.

Common Sense: Time Is The Same For Everyone

Fact: Moving clock ticks slower.

This fact is long been known for but hardly anyone knows about it. This phenomenon, time dilation, arises when:

Common Senses Sound Good, But Are They True?

Some of them are true, but some of them are pure BS. This blog’s purpose is to find those BS and attempt to smash them into pieces using facts and logic.

There was a time when it was common sense that the earth was flat, center of the universe, and orbited by the sun. It was very difficult for some to imagine the otherwise back then. Likewise, it will be difficult for us to accept ideas that contradict what the majority thinks. Still, as a rational being, I try to accept the truth. Although I still occasionally do things based on some BS common senses, I try...

Send me some common senses that you suspect as being BS and I'll do research to find the truth. Well... I don't suppose anyone will be reading this blog, so I'll just post what I think.
